Course Description
Aus-HS offers two types of training programmes.  One is the regular scheduled training workshops (supply based) and the other is tailor made training workshops (demand based).

For supply based short courses (scheduled programme) the content is planned and announced in advance.  For demand based short courses (tailor made programmes) the content is developed in consultation with sponsoring agencies.

As an indication, a brief outline of some of Aus-HS' supply based short courses are given below:

1. Public Sector Management and Reform

The current trend of globalization, liberalization and deregulation is increasingly sweeping across most countries.  Reform targeted at improvement in efficiency and delivery of public services are the need of the time.  This necessitates reform in the structure, responsibilities and approach of government and other formal sector agencies. Public sector reform includes administrative, social, technology, political ideology and economic approach.  This short course will look at various factors for management of this process and will cover various dimensions of public sector reforms with a focus on performance management.

2. Strategic Planning

A key to working towards good governance, reform, sustainable development and poverty alleviation is to undertake an approach that involves thinking, planning and managing strategically. Planning is an analytical process which encompasses an assessment of the existing scenario, the outlining of a vision for the future, the determination of desired objectives in the context of that future, the development of alternative courses of action to achieve such objectives, and selection of the final courses of action.  This module will equip the participants with the skill and knowledge to assimilate the concepts above and translate them into action in their places of work back home.
